I do some home brew beer making and for the fermentation stage I have a fridge connected to a STC 1000. This is basically a thermostat that keeps the desired temperature by turning the fridge on and off and a heat mat inside the fridge on and off depending on the temperature.

This is a great way of keeping conditions dark and at the desired temperature for the incubation stage.

However there will be no air exchange. Do you feel this will be an issue? Will opening the door 1-2 x daily be sufficient? Any tips?

    Thanks

    Hi Jonathan,

Sounds like a great device to have – your fermentation fridge will work great for incubation of mushroom bags too!

You don’t need much air exchange during incubation, so just opening the door a couple times day to flush out the CO2 which will build up from the growing bags, and replenishing the space with some fresh O2 will work fine.

Happy growing – let us know how it goes.

    best wishes,
    Adam
