    Hi guys

Andy here growing oysters in Croydon.

The shipping container is in place and is being fitted out as I write.

Back in the early days of it being designed I specified HEPA filters for the air intakes and out takes in both the incubation and fruiting areas.

The engineer is asking me what type of filter and frame do I want for this. To be honest I’m unable to answer him as all HEPA filters that I can find seem to be in appliances.

They need to cut the holes next week as the insulation is being fitted. I know I’ve asked you this question before but do you have any suggestions what to use? It’s mostly to keep gnats and bugs out.

    Any pointers gratefully accepted

    kind regards

I wouldn’t have gone with HEPA just because they tend to get pretty expensive specially if it means replacing them every year or so after regular use… I’m wondering what you came up for this system? I’d appreciate an update on how it went

I’m also wondering if it’s really necessary to have a filtration system on the output? I reckon that by having one you would just be trapping a bunch of spores instead of letting them circulate out and away from the grow area. For the intake it does seem reasonable to have a decent filtration system both in the fruiting chamber and incubation area.

I hope you had good success with this project,

    Cheers from Mexico!

Filters on the outflow are mainly used to stop any fans downstream getting clogged up with spores over time.

    Best wishes, Adam
