I did try to upload the photos but didn’t seem to let me but anyway thank you for the spawn, im now getting a good crop of mushrooms. I did try messing around using other substrate/supplements however straw and soap came out top for me. One thing i did discover is where most of my bags were put into the house for incubation i did leave one in the garage where it was a lot cooler. It didn’t colonise as quick or as well as the bags in the house but did fruit a week earlier than the other bags which surprised me.

I used the unicorn bags you sent me and also made bags out of layflat poly tubing and punctured using an arrowhead and i have to say the polybag method i like a lot 🙂

Anyway thank you for the course and sharing your knowledge, tis been a lot of fun!

    Hi Lee,

great to hear of your success and nice one on the experimentation with different substrate and bags!

The cooler temperaure in the garage probably helped that bag to initiate fruiting quicker as cooler temps are a pinning trigger.

Sorry the image uploader didn’t work for you – you can also use http://imgur.com/ Just click the ‘New Post’ button at the top and upload your image(s), then use the link they give you to paste in here.

Would be great to see some shots of your first crop 🙂

    best wishes, Adam

Will you be doing any cold grow tutorials with Lions Mane in the future? I would really love to try and grow this one.

wow, beautiful photos Lee! Looks like a perfect first crop for you – nice work 😉 what are you going to do with them all?

In our follow up course due out in July we’ll be covering how to grow Shiitakes in a low tech way and probably some other varieties like lions mane in the future as well. We’ve trialled Lions mane on wood pellets and grew some but very low yields so far so needs some further experimentation.

Ah thats great Adam! i will look forward to that.

I will probably just share them with friends and family, i did think about turning it into a side business but it would be too much with my other work. Although it didnt stop me from coming up with a brand name and logo! …just or fun
